Virtualisation and VMware Jobs

One of the major current trends in computing is virtualization. Its a rapidly growing area and that rapid growth is fuelling a demand for employees with skills and experience in the field.

Cactusoft recently completed a new job board website for VMPeople.net. The website specialises in jobs and recruitment for roles in virtualisation and cloud computing.

Virtualization is the practice of running an operating system on a "virtual" machine rather than directly on the hardware. This has many advantages, for example

• allowing Windows to run on hardware it would not normally run on
• enabling several virtual servers to be run on a single hardware system (saving money, and energy)
• enabling virtual machines to be used for tuition or potentially destructive testing of software. Any damage to the operating system can be instantly fixed by restoring a previously saved virtual machine
